As part of the 2024 Papua New Guinea Investment Week, the session titled “Empowering Workplaces – Strategies for Gender Inclusion and Business Success in PNG” will take center stage on Wednesday 11th December at the Cockle Bay Room 1, Level 3 of the International Convention Centre.
Moderated by Ellen Maynes, Operations Officer of the Gender and Economic Inclusion Department at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), this session brings together industry leaders to discuss how fostering gender-inclusive and respectful workplaces can drive transformative business outcomes across Papua New Guinea.
At the heart of this session is a powerful panel discussion titled “Meri Save Trades and the Business Case for Safe, Inclusive, and Respectful Workplaces in PNG.”

Backed by The Australian and New Zealand Governments, the Meri Save Trades (“Women Know Trades”) program is supporting Papua New Guinean women to enter and excel in non-traditional roles and sectors where they have been historically underrepresented. As part of Meri Save Trades, 18 firms employing approximately 15,000 people are taking action to address barriers to women’s recruitment, promotion, and retention.
