PNG Chamber of Resources and Energy
The PNG Chamber of Resources & Energy (CORE) is a non-profit, leading industry association. We represent the mining and energy sectors, along with related industries in Papua New Guinea.
Established in 1987, the Chamber has evolved over more than 30 years, earning respect from the wider business community, civil society, the industry itself, and the Government.
OUR ROLE
We host international and local conferences, workshops, and seminars, produce publications relevant to the industry, and act as a vital link between the Government and the industry. Our focus is on key policies and legislation that affect both the industry and the nation.

Our mission is to showcase and enhance the potential of Papua New Guinea in mineral and petroleum exploration. We are committed to developing a world-class, sustainable resources industry. Our goal is to create benefits that significantly improve the welfare of all Papua New Guineans.

The Council
The Chamber is governed by a Council of 12 Councillors elected by the Full and Associate Members and headed by a President, a Senior Vice President, and a Vice President. The administrative arm of the organisation is run by the Secretariat, which is headed by an Executive Director.
The Council is responsible for the overall management and direction of the Chamber and meetings are convened on a monthly basis. The Council is chaired by the President. The President, Senior Vice President and Vice President serve a term of one year. Other Councillors serve a term of two years.

The PNG CORE Secretariat
The PNG CORE team is dedicated to hosting international and local conferences, workshops, and seminars, producing publications pertinent to the industry, and serving as an essential bridge between the government and the industry. Their focus on pivotal policies and legislation impacts both the industry and the nation, reflecting their objectives to support and facilitate industry growth and compliance.
The Papua New Guinea Chamber of Resources and Energy is a non-profit peak industry organization which exists to promote and advance the growth and prosperity of the mining and petroleum industry in PNG, consistent with national interest.
The Chamber also seeks to create the best possible environment in the public and private sectors for the industry to develop and expand, by being the primary source of information for the mining and petroleum industry and by representing the industry’s best interest to the government and nation, in those areas which members agree are best handled on a cooperative basis.
