For service suppliers looking to do business in Papua New Guinea, a key understanding of the needs of various operations across the country’s business sector, including its dynamic mineral resources and energy sectors, is critical in informing their business strategy for trading with PNG businesses but also in investing in PNG operations and employing Papua New Guineans.

The inaugural PNG International Suppliers Forum will provide this platform, bringing together close to 200 representatives from a range of industries, for an opportunity to meet with participants from within PNG’s mineral resources and energy sectors.

To take place on Day 1 of PNG Investment Week – Sunday December 8th, 2024 – at the Sydney International Convention Centre, the PNG Suppliers Forum will see these international organizations meet and exchange ideas with PNG project operators in a controlled environment, to enable a better understanding of the project operators.

According to President of PNG Chamber of Resources & Energy (PNG CORE), Anthony Smaré, this decision to have the inaugural PNG International Suppliers Forum regulators open PNG Investment Week was strategic, given that the country was on the verge of welcoming major projects within the resources industry.

“The PNG International Suppliers Forum is a new concept that PNG CORE has adapted, to complement the presentations that take place during PNG Investment Week. This forum facilitates for international suppliers to meet various project operators and major contractors, and discuss directly with respective project procurement leads, to gain a better understanding of the needs of industry in PNG. This also provides an opportunity for PNG landowner companies to gauge the opportunities of potential partnerships with reputable international suppliers, through joint ventures, which promotes local capacity building. This initiative is part of providing better value and support for both our large operators, LandCos and the many international companies which want to supply them services and products. This reinforces our mantra about PNG Investment Week – ‘everybody who matter, in the same place, at the same time, all ready to network and do business’”

“PNG CORE is pleased to announce that all major resource project operators have confirmed to be a part of the PNG International Suppliers Forum, as part of PNG Investment Week.”

“There are also several major international suppliers from across the mineral resources and energy industries who have registered for this event, which is sure to be a gamechanger for industry in PNG.”

“We are confident that from this event, our members will be better placed to make informed decisions on who they engage to provide services to their respective operations.”

Registration for the PNG International Suppliers Forum are is still open, and are available at www.pnginvestmentweek.com.pg.
